Tiny Tot Skate Session at Cal Skate - Rohnert Park
Cal Skate in Rohnert Park offers preschoolers the chance to skate at a roller rink without worrying about getting knocked down or run over by older kids. With tightened down wheels and parents being able to walk on the floor of the rink, your preschooler’s first skating experience will be a happy one! What to Expect
When you get there, your preschooler will be given a pair of roller skates that are specially adjusted a little tighter than normal, yet still allowing them to roll. For the first 45-60 minutes it is “free skate.” At that point, the instructor comes out and gets all of the children to practice falling correctly and shows them how to get back up.Then, preschoolers are kept entertained with age appropriate music and games. Instruction continues with the Hokey Pokey, Follow the Colored Lights, Scoop Up the Stars, and more.
Benefits to Preschoolers
Being able to learn to balance on skates is a childhood skill that will provide your preschooler years of fun! The age appropriate music and games keep preschoolers interested in learning to skate. And, with parents being able to walk along with them, preschoolers are more likely to feel comfortable in the environment, relax and learn quickly. Preschoolers will probably be able to skate on their own by the end of the session!Tip: Tiny Tot Skate is for children 10 and under. Try to avoid going in the summer. Wait until school starts and the age group that shows up will be 5 and under since the older ones are in school.
Disadvantages to Preschoolers
They don’t offer elbow pads, knee pads, or helmets. If you think you will need them or just want to be safe, bring yours from home. Also, there are a lot of coin-op games (video and more) so unless your ready to dole out the quarters, let your preschooler know that you are there to learn to skate, not play games.
