Kidgits Club at Coddingtown
Kidgits is a low cost club ($5 a year to join) for preschoolers and children of all ages sponsored by Coddingtown Mall. Most of the Kidgits activities are on weekends so this makes it nice for working parents or caregivers who usually miss out on weekday events. Benefits of joining include events at the Coddingtown Mall, coupons, a birthday surprise and more!About the Club
When your sign up your preschooler as a member, he/she will receive a t-shirt (with all the Kidgit characters on it) and a membership card that you child will think is very cool. They will also be invited to all of the themed events, about 6 per year, receive a surprise bag on their birthday, a newsletter, and can get a balloon with every visit to Coddingtown. Parents/caregivers will receive coupons and a promotional “goodie bag.”Event Review
The first event was sponsored by Sonoma County Libraries, Radio Disney and Cabbage Patch Dolls. There was a craft and coloring table set up for preschoolers to participate in between segments (the whole event lasted about 2 hours) while Radio Disney played music. All members present were included in drawings for various Cabbage Patch Doll’s, games, and other toys. Every member received a Kidgits storybook as well. A Sonoma County librarian was there reading stories to the children as they sat on little Kidgits cushions. Overall, it was a fun event for all who attended.Benefits for Preschoolers
Letting your preschooler know they are part of a “club” is very exciting for them. Being able to get a balloon every time they go to the mall is just as exciting! They also will enjoy receiving the Kidgits newsletter, it has games, projects and craft ideas. The Kidgits website has some cute little interactive games that preschoolers are able to play as well as coloring pages to print out. Being that it was their first event, things were a little unorganized. The people running the activities were not very experienced at keeping preschoolers and other ages entertained and engaged. And while the crowd didn’t seem too overwhelming at the first event, I can see how future events may be a little stressful with more and more people joining all the time. (After the next event, I will give an update.)Future Events
