Fun-ky Monkey - Santa Rosa

Fun-ky Monkey in Santa Rosa is a pizza and games establishment similar in concept to Chuck E. Cheese yet it isn’t as “corporate” and the prices and food are much better. It’s a little bit out of the way, located near the airport, but it is easy to find and provides plenty of parking. They offer money saving pizza, drink, and token packages for families as well as birthday party packages for your preschooler’s birthday. Although there is no stage with animatronic characters singing songs, Fun-ky Monkey provides good family entertainment.

What to Expect

When you enter the building, you will be greeted by an employee that will stamp you and your preschooler’s hand. This prevents others from trying to leave with your child. Then you proceed to the order counter where there is a menu featuring pizza, sandwiches, corn dogs, fries, and more. They offer two specials – one if for an extra large pizza, 4 drinks and 40 tokens for $32.99 and the other is the same but with 80 tokens for only $38.99. This makes it pretty affordable for a family of four and the pizza is pretty good (especially compared to their competition!). They also have an ice cream parlor for an after lunch treat.

There are games for every age group, even preschoolers. From “squishing spiders” to “smacking alligators” you will find a game that will fit your preschooler’s skill level. And most games give you tickets for scoring points so you can save them up and choose a prize from the prize counter when you are ready to leave. When the tokens are gone, the fun can continue in the indoor jungle gym. It’s a structure with slides, climbing walls and other fun things for preschoolers to use up some of their energy.

Benefits to Preschoolers

Because it’s not as well known as Chuck E. Cheese, it is a little less crowded, especially on weekdays. It also lets them play games like the big kids without it being a video game. And, if you can find a coupon in your Value Pak coupon mailer that most people in Santa Rosa receive, it gives you $11 to $16 off of the family packages, making it even more affordable. It’s also a great place to have a birthday party and the food is much better than Chuck E. Cheese.

Disadvantages to Preschoolers

During the visit, there were a lot of games that were out of order. It could simply have been a coincidence that there were so many that day though. It can also be a little intimidating for a preschooler if there are a lot of older children there running around. Also, it isn’t as nicely maintained as it could be.
