Camping at Spring Lake - Santa Rosa
Has your preschooler experienced camping yet? Afraid that he/she will be nervous about sleeping in a tent, won’t eat the food you bring, or might get hurt? Well worry no more! Spring Lake is THE PLACE to take your preschooler camping for the first time. The park offers camping, fishing, picnic areas with barbecues, trails, swimming, and boating all within close proximity to grocery stores, sandwich shops, and more. You should have no fears about “roughing” it for a few days knowing that you can quickly drive home if your preschooler is just not up for the adventure.
Try out a paddle boat on the lake, go swimming in the "swimming hole," sing songs around the campfire, eat s'mores...true camping fun!
Check out their website for specifics about all that Spring Lake Regional Park has to offer. The campground is only $19 per night but be sure to reserve your spot early because they book up quickly.
Benefits for Preschoolers
Just being in the outdoors and getting dirty is on the top of the list for most preschoolers! Getting to see squirrels, deer, fish, ducks, birds and more adds to the excitement of the camping experience. The best part about camping at Spring Lake is being so close to “civilization” in case anything goes wrong (like squirrels eating your hamburger buns!) or if it just isn’t working out. It is also close to Howarth Park so if you are staying for more than one day, you can venture over to the playground for some more fun!Disadvantages for Preschoolers
There really aren’t any! If you are willing to make the most of your camping experience, your preschooler will be talking about their first camping trip for a long time!Details
