Birthday Parties at Powell's Sweet Shoppe - Healdsburg

Powell’s Sweet Shoppe is a delightful, old world style, candy store located on the square in Healdsburg. It is packed with over 5,000 different types of candy - brand new kinds that you may have never heard of and ones you will remember from your childhood. And, if your preschooler has a birthday coming up, Powell’s has a fantastic party room decorated in a theme that seems to run throughout the store – Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971 version!).

What to Expect

Having your birthday party at the sweet shop is fun for all ages. Depending on the package and/or extras you choose, you have the option to enjoy a fun candy scavenger hunt, gelato ice cream, pizza, cake, and even face painting. When your preschooler’s party guests arrive they will act like “kid’s in a candy store,” literally!

The scavenger hunt is truly the main focus of the celebration. Preschooler’s are given a party bag with 20 double sided cards featuring a picture of a type of candy on each side. The goal is to find the specific candy in the store. That’s 40 sweet treats to add to your party bag!

Benefits to Preschooler’s

A birthday party at a candy store will definitely be a unique event to be remembered for years to come. It’s great for winter birthdays or Halloween parties. Also, you can get your preschooler excited about the idea by renting the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie (1971) and share some of your childhood memories with them.

Disadvantages to Preschooler’s

Well, the big one is the candy! While it is the main focus of the party, you can limit the amount consumed by talking about the candy rules before hand. Let him/her know how much they are allowed to eat and let them know that you will be taking the treats home and can enjoy them in moderation. Or, give in for the day and let them have at it!
